Here's Why Nigel De Jong Could Be The Man To Fix Man Utd

According to Goal, United are making a late push for former Man City shin-banger Nigel de Jong.

A mainstay in his Holland side, the AC Milan midfielder is not yet thirty and could still provide a wonderful base from which to build for LVG's revamped Red Devils. A player who rarely ventures ahead of the ball, the DM made 32 starts in the league for Milan last year and his stats are pretty impressive: two goals, three assists, a 91% pass completion rate (Carrick 88.6%, Cleverly 89.6%) and a defensive contribution which has become his calling card.

One of those players who never tires (he does not, admittedly, ever run that far - usually a ten yard dash into a crunching tackle), he'd also be a bargain for the mooted £8million price-tag.
