Man United: Why Jordy Clasie Would Be A Bargain Vidal Alternative
Jordy Clasie could join the Dutch revolution at Manchester United, according to the Guardian. New United boss Louis Van Gaal is reportedly keen to add another central midfielder to his squad, following the signing of Ander Herrera from Athletic Bilbao. United have been strongly linked to Chilean powerhouse Arturo Vidal in recent weeks, but The Guardian report that should that deal fall through, Clasie is next on Van Gaal's list.
Clasie had an impressive season with Feyenoord in the Eredivise, playing a key part in their impressive 2nd placed finish. Van Gaal is known to be a fan of Clasie, and the new United manager selected Clasie in his squad for the 2014 World Cup.
Just 23 years old and Feyenoord captain, Clasie has developed a reputation for his reading of the game, averaging almost 2 interceptions per game last season in the Eredivise. Dutch sides (mainly Ajax) have developed a reputation for producing talent and then selling them to big European clubs, and with United looking for another central midfielder, and Van Gaal reportedly interested in his fellow countryman, don't be surprised to see Clasie in a United shirt next season.
Industry bods Transfermarkt value Clasie at around €6million - a snip, if you ask us.
