Man Utd's pursuit of £25m rated Morgan Schneiderlin was reported to have been put on hold last week, and now, according to the Sunday Times (subscription required), it's believed that Schneiderlin would prefer a move to Arsenal.
The 24-year-old French midfielder has been excellent for Southampton in the past couple of seasons and is catching the eye of some of Europe's biggest clubs. He openly stated on a radio station based in the Alsace region of France that he is in contact with clubs and a deal should be sone soon.
However, despite a concrete offer being made by United, the player would still rather play under Arsène Wenger at Arsenal. The compatriots both reside from the Alsace region and Wenger is a long-term admirer of his fellow Alsatian.
United may well still have the upper hand, however, as Arsenal are reportedly reluctant to meet Southampton's asking price. There's also talk of Arsenal looking elsewhere for their midfield recruitment. Perhaps the likes of William Carvalho and Sven or Lars Bender are higher up their list.
