Manchester United are splashing the cash this summer as they look to build a formidable side capable of competing for the Premier League title. Next on their shopping list, according to German outlet Bild (in German), is ex-Chelsea man Kevin De Bruyne.

De Bruyne, 23, has 27 assists in all competitions this season, thus making him the most creative player in Europe's top 5 leagues. With Di Maria struggling to settle, it seems United are ready to break the bank for the Belgian who may be better suited to the Premier League.

Chelsea sold De Bruyne to Wolfsburg for £18million after failing to find a place for him in the first team, but they'll be kicking themselves now. De Bruyne may have been bumped off, but he hasn't ruled out  a return to England.

It's reported that Real Madrid are also interested in the player, as well as Manchester City. However, the allure of Man Utd mustn't be underestimated and with so much cash at their disposal, it's foolish to rule them out. The £50million+ it could take to buy De Bruyne is well within United's capabilities.

De Bruyne would be a stellar signing and a very, very smart one. United fans will be hoping the interest develops into a bid sooner rather than later...
