Mauricio Isla: Can Liverpool Beat Arsenal To Chile Star Isla?
Chile are so hot right now, and Liverpool could be set to steal right-back Mauricio Isla from under Arsenal's nose, according to the Guardian.
Arsenal need a new right-back to replace the City-bound Bacary Sagna, and had watched Isla at Juventus several times last season. Liverpool are also in the market for a right-back because Glen Johnson is, well, Glen Johnson. The England defender only has one year left on his deal at Anfield and the club are looking for a long-term option.
The 26-year-old has played as a wing-back in Chile's dynamic system in the World Cup, and he can also play further forward as a winger.
Now Liverpool are expected to step up their interest and make a move for Isla, who is valued at around £15 million, though that is set to rise if his impressive form in Brazil continues.
Isla recently spoke about his future, and while he is happy to stay in Serie A, he didn't rule out a move. He said: "I'm working hard for Chile and for Juve.
"I know that the fans love me, everything will depend on the coach. I'm happy to continue my adventure at Juventus."
Yeah, alright - we've heard that one before, mate.
