Meet Monaco's Defensive Gem Arsenal Have Scouted

According to the Daily Mail, Arsenal are scouting highly rated Monaco left-back Layvin Kurzawa. Giles Grimandi, Arsenal's head scout in France, has been watching the young Frenchman who made his first appearance for the French national team last month. Manchester City and Bayern Munich are also thought to be interested in signing Kurzawa, who is reportedly valued at £15million.

Arsenal's lack of numbers in defence has proven costly this season, with their ever-changing, makeshift back four leaking goals at a worrying rate. Even though the Arsene Wenger has both Kieran Gibbs and Nacho Monreal at his disposal in the left-back position, the pair's tendency to get injured is a concern. The 22-year-old Kurzawa may prove a valuable asset to obtain, especially considering Monreal has spent most of this season covering at centre-back (and actually not doing too badly for someone so new to the position).

Kurzawa fits the Arsenal mould of an athletic left-back who can support in attack as well as cover well and the defender will be fully aware of Wenger's ability to take young players to the next level. However, Arsenal will face stiff competition if Manchester City and Bayern Munich up their interest.
