Leeds have been linked with a move for the highly-rated goalkeeper Daniel Bentley.
The confident keeper has been attracting attention from bigger clubs, with Hull and QPR failing with bids for him over the summer.
Just 22-years old, Bentley's contract expires at the end of the season, though due to his age any club agreeing to sign him would have to pay compensation to Southend.
Leeds have scouted Bentley in recent weeks and could pull off a deal in January should they put in an offer that is tempting for the Shrimpers. The Essex club are looking to win promotion from League 1, but have a ready made replacement for Bentley in the form of the England U20 goalkeeper Ted Smith.
Bentley was the star of the show back in May when Southend were promoted from League 2 in the play-off final. The penalty save-specialist stopped a spot kick against Wycombe, as Southend triumphed in a shooutout. Watch his best saves of last season below.
