Meet Tottenham Legend With More Goals Than Messi And Ronaldo
It’s easy to think that Lionel Messi and Cristiano are in a league of their own when it comes to putting the ball into the proverbial onion bag but this statistic shows that the greatest goalscorer of them all was English through and through.
Jimmy Greaves scored 366 league goals during his career, which is more than any player in the history of Europe’s five biggest leagues - England, Italy, Spain, Germany and France. Greavsie notched a staggering 357 goals in 516 English league appearances and nine in 12 games during his brief period with AC Milan in Serie A.
Those 366 strikes puts Greaves one goal ahead of second-placed Gerd Muller. The former England legend scored 220 league goals for Spurs in 321 games and a remarkable 124 goals for his first club Chelsea in just 157 appearances.
There’s still plenty of time for Ronaldo and Messi to overtake Greaves but considering that they don’t share the great man’s penchant for a fag and a pint, we're not sure they can really claim to be the more natural goalscorer. Here's the great man in action.
