Jose Mourinho has requested that Manchester United meet Atletico Madrid star Saul Niguez's £54million release clause, according to the Daily Star.
Saul has been one of Atletico's players of the season and can play anywhere from central midfield, on the wing or even in defence. This versatility is seen as a huge bonus by Mourinho and his staff as it means that they could mould him into the type of player they need.
At 21, the Spaniard would be another prospect to join the likes of Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford and Jesse Lingaard in United's plethora of young talent. Although Mourinho has a reputation for marginalising or simply not nurturing youth, he's believed to be relishing the opportunity to do so at United.
Mourinho believes Saul's huge release clause is more than worth activating as he could be a valuable asset to United for years and years. United won't be the only club interested, but they may be the only club willing to pay full-whack. After the relative success of Martial in his first season, United are more inclined to spend big on another youngster.
