According to The Telegraph, Newcastle United owner Mike Ashley is backing Steve McClaren, but only until David Moyes becomes available.
Newcastle have had a disastrous start to the season and fans have been calling for the head of former England boss McClaren. Ashley has publicly defended his man however, announcing that further transfer funds will become available in January.
Newcastle have come under fire for their poor choice of signings this summer, with McClaren seemingly lead astray by questionable scouting.
Moyes, currently at Real Sociedad, has long been linked with a move to the North East, with Mike Ashley previously attempting to lure him away from Everton. Although his standing in the UK isn't particularly high after an embarrassing first season at Man Utd, you'd think Moyes would welcome the chance to take over at a club like Newcastle, where the only way is up.
