News On Rodgers Future At Liverpool

Brendan Rodgers ensured he will keep his job for another week after a Daniel Sturridge double sunk Aston Villa, but that may be only a temporary reprieve.

Rodgers is under immense pressure after a disappointing start to the season following on from an underwhelming campaign last time, including the final day capitulation at Stoke. The win was the first time since February that the Merseysiders have scored 3 goals or more in a game.

And The Express are reporting that talks are continuing with both Jurgen Klopp and Carlo Ancelotti, who boast a host of honours between them. Klopp has been the favourite to be the next man in the Anfield dugout for some time, but Ancelotti offers a wealth of experience at big name clubs, and could offer an attractive proposition for Liverpool's owners.

Brendan Rodgers is now facing a situation in which he cannot afford to slip up, as Liverpool's next defeat may well be his last as boss. Their next game comes in the Mersyside derby and is crucial to his future, and could prove to be either a catalyst for the season, or the final straw.

He commented after the Villa win, "I am pretty confident that there is a group of people that don’t want me to be manager here. In all competitions we have lost less games than Manchester City, Chelsea and Arsenal. The hysteria around ourselves is interesting to note."
