There has been a lot of transfer speculation involving Manchester United over the summer and now that the window is closed, concrete details of who they targeted are starting to be confirmed.
The Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has revealed that United were interested in Gareth Bale, Karim Benzema and Raphael Varane.
Meanwhile, the Bayern Munich president Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has confirmed that the Germans received a huge offer for Thomas Muller this summer - most likely from United who were heavily linked with the forward.
Rummenigge said: "I'm talking about figures which were very high indeed. If I were a bank manager then I would have had to accept it.
"But as a football club we allowed ourselves to close the door on it, and this door is remaining closed. I can promise that to everybody.
"But one thing is for certain, in view of the increased television money in England things are not going to get any easier for Bayern in future."
