According to reports today, Real Madrid star defender Sergio Ramos has "verbally agreed" a deal with Man Utd, but is set to have talks with Madrid president Florentino Perez before formally deciding on his future.
Spanish news outlet AS are confident however that the deal is done, and Ramos will leave Madrid for Manchester in the coming days.
Ramos has been a long time target of Van Gaal, who wants to create a new spine for his team to push for the title.
Ramos has made an incredible 128 appearances as a rock at the back for Spain, with 314 at club level for Real Madrid.
The news will of course be welcomed by Man Utd fans, but more pressing matters are at the other end of the pitch, with Wayne Rooney looking likely to be the only man left up front with the departure of RVP and Falcao, and Di Maria on his way out.
