Ex Man Utd legend Roy Keane has described the tackle which broke Luke Shaw's leg as "a brilliant challenge".
The incident happened as PSV's Hector Moreno slid into the United defender during this week's Champions League clash, with the Mexican's trailing leg causing the injury to Shaw.
Keane himself became infamous after an allegedly deliberate attempt to end the career of Manchester City's Alfie Haaland with a shocking high tackle.
Speaking to ITV, Keane said "‘I love the physical side of the game" adding, ‘When players are travelling at that speed, defending like that, injuries are going to happen. I’m surprised there are not more like it. It was more of an accident at the end with his trailing foot".
Shaw is expected to be sidelined for up to six months with a double fracture in his right leg.
