Tottenham and Southampton have been alerted as to the possible availability of Porto's French star Gianelli Imbula, despite him only joining the club in the summer.
According to reports in France, via TalkSport, he is struggling to settle in Portugal, despite joining for £17.5 million. AC Milan were interested before his move to Porto, and Spurs and Saints could be set to battle for his services.
The defensive midfielder has represented France at U21 level, but is eligible to play for Belgium and DR Congo as well, and is yet to make a senior international appearance. He has previously played for Giungamp and Marseille in France, but it is understood he would be open to a move to England.
The high price tag could be a stumbling block for both clubs, who have bitter history over the transfer of Toby Alderweireld to Tottenham, and the move depends on how the player settles in Portugal.
