Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino was in Dublin on Friday to watch Arsenal target Vincent Janssen, according to Sky Sports (via The Sports Review).
Janssen, 21, scored a staggering 27 goals in 34 games in the Eredivisie last season with AZ Alkmaar. His incredible form attracted interest from Arsenal, who have been keeping tabs on the player, but now their North London rivals have entered the race.
Pochettino was watching Janssen during the Netherlands 1-1 draw with the Republic of Ireland. A European Championship warm up game for the latter.
Spurs' very public interest may well push Arsenal to make a move, or to look elsewhere. For Spurs, it's a case of relieving Harry Kane of all the pressure as Spurs lone striker. For the Gunners it's providing competition for, or even upgrading on, Olivier Giroud. Not to mention covering for Danny Welbeck's long term injury.
