Spurs: Could Boring James Milner Provide The Spark Tim's Side Needs?
When Tim Sherwood ripped into his Tottenham squad after their collapse against Chelsea, he said they needed more guts - and he wasn't talking about Tom Huddlestone - which has led to talk of Spurs going for James Milner in the summer.
The Daily Mail are linking Spurs with a move for the England winger, who can also play in central midfield. Milner seems like the kind of guy who'd be able to tell you a lot about garden fences, but his determination and work-rate wouldn't go amiss in this Spurs side, who've now been thrashed by Man City, Liverpool and Chelsea this season. Milner's steady, functional reputation might not be the eye-catching signing Spurs fans desire, but he definitely wouldn't have been as anonymous as Aaron Lennon was last weekend.
Spurs are perennially trying to break into the Champions League and Milner's experience would be a welcome addition to the squad. He finds himself behind David Silva, Jesus Navas and Samir Nasri in the pecking order at City and could be tempted by a move to White Hart Lane to get more playing time. The 29-year-old has a year left on his contract, though you would imagine he'd still attract a decent transfer fee.
