Spurs are looking to land an experienced midfielder before the window shuts but saw two options pass them by today.
Tottenham are rumoured to have lodged a bid for the Zenit midfielder Axel Witsel, only to be told that he is only available at his buy-out clause of £72.8m.
Another possibility was the former Arsenal star Alex Song, but this afternoon West Ham secured the player on a loan deal from Barcelona.
This leaves Spurs with one remaining option, Victor Wanyama. The player was due to go out on international duty with Kenya but has remained in England. Can a deal be struck before the window closes?
