Defence is the best form of attack?

Chelsea's defenders have been involved in an awful lot of goals this season and their contribution is double what Liverpool's strikers have achieved.

Jose Mourinho's back line have benefitted from a focus on set-plays and some of Chelsea's most vital goals have been scored by defenders.

It's not just scoring, however, it's also assisting goals. Whether it be a cross from Ivanovic or Azpilicueta or a knock on from Terry or Cahill, Chelsea's defenders are helping their team in attack as well as defending diligently.

Liverpool's strikers, on the other hand, have under-performed this season. Daniel Sturridge's injury woes haven't helped, but Mario Balotelli has come nowhere near to the kind of level that Liverpool fans were hoping he'd reach.

It's a bit of an embarrassment for the Liverpool strike force to be out-done by Chelsea's defence...
