Jose Mourinho’s Chelsea side look likely to romp the Premier League this season and this statistic suggests that it’s his attention to set-pieces that could prove the difference.

When Chelsea won back-to-back titles in Mourinho’s first two years in charge at Stamford Bridge, they scored 33 goals from set-piece situations in both seasons. This represented over 30% of the total amount of goals scored.

Chelsea look set to repeat this feat, with nine of their last 19 goals coming from set-pieces. In total, 29% of their goals have come from penalties, free-kicks and corners, which is the biggest percentage since Mourinho’s heyday. Might as well just engrave their name on the Premier League trophy now...
