01:01: The reported 1am deadline has passed and still no word on Moutinho and Spurs. Looks to be off and with it; I'm calling it a night.

00:37: Norwich City have confirmed the loan signing of Harry Kane from Spurs.

00:30: Speculation suggesting the Moutinho deal is definitely off. Whether there is a 1am deadline remains to be seen.

00:27: Reports now suggesting the Moutinho deal is off.

00:17: Could Daniel Levy be about to pull the biggest rabbit out of the smallest hat?

00:14: I was about to call it a night. This changes it all. Reports suggest all the right people are in the Spurs lodge looking to push this deal through. Moutinho could still be a Spurs player by 1am, provided they can provide proof that the deal is close to completion.

00:06: Rumours beginning to gather pace. Spurs pushing for a 1am extension to seal the Moutinho deal. Hold onto your hats...

00:04: You couldn't make it up - reports suggest that the Moutinho deal could still be on....

23:49: Sky Sports are yet to confirm whether Moutinho has gone through or this space...

23:48: One final piece of transfer news; Javi Garcia has signed for Manchester City.

23:35: So, that is it from me. A frantic close to the transfer window, as expected, but we wouldn't have it any other way, would we? Kudos must also go to my partner in crime Alex Woo for his updates between 11am and 5pm.

23:23: Stoke City confirm the signing of Steven N'Zonzi from Blackburn Rovers.

23:08: Tom Huddlestone's move to Fulham hasn't gone through. The midfielder will now remain at Spurs.

23:02: Chelsea have confirmed that Michael Essien has joined Real Madrid on a season long loan.

23:00: And the window is shut. No confirmation on Javi Garcia...yet.

22:59: Moutinho now likely to stay at Porto.

22:57: Further update on Moutinho - reports suggest his agent is at the Spurs lodge. Just over three minutes to go...

22:56: Spurs still working on Moutinho. Time is against them. Broken fax machine? Another Rafael van der Vaart parachute in?

22:51: Under 10 minutes to go now. Who's fax machine is likely to break down first?

22:49: QPR have confirmed the signing of Stephane M'Bia from Marseille on a two-year deal.

22:47: Moutinho likely to stay at FC Porto than move to Spurs....

22:46: QPR have now confirmed that Joey Barton has moved to Marseille on a season-long loan.

22:46: Still holding my breath on can't happen, can it?

22:40: 20 minutes to go until the transfer window slams shut. Any big moves before 11pm? Clubs certainly have to act swiftly before the deadline.

22:38: Huddlestone could be set to join Fulham as part of the Dempsey deal.

22:38: Steven N'Zonzi expected to sign for Stoke City from Blackburn Rovers before the 11pm deadline, while Palacios' move to Fulham could still be on.

22:35: Nicky Maynard has moved to Cardiff City from West Ham for an undisclosed fee.

22:34: Blackpool confirm a triple deadline day swoop for Nathan Delfounso from Aston Villa on loan, Nathan Eccleston from Liverpool on a permanent and Kirk Broadfoot on a free.

22:33: Fulham had hoped to bring in Wilson Palacios from Stoke City before the close of the window. Doubt there is enough time to push the move through now.

22:29: All very quiet at Arsenal and has been all day. Late drama at the Emirates Stadium perhaps? 31 minutes to go.

22:28: Harry Kane may be moving to Fulham as part of the Dempsey deal on loan.

22:25: Tom Huddlestone expected to leave Spurs before 11pm, while the club are still pushing for Moutinho.

22:24: Brighton have confirmed the signings of David Lopez and Stephen Dobbie from Athletic Bilbao and Swansea City respectively.

22:21: Lee Clark has confirmed that Jack Butland won't be leaving Birmingham City before the close of the transfer window. Clark also insists they only received one bid for the young shot-stopper from Southampton earlier in the summer.

22:20: Aston Villa confirm the signing of Christian Benteke from Genk, while West Ham are set to secure the loan signing of Yossi Benayoun from Chelsea.

22:06: West Ham have agreed a deal to sign Benayoun on loan for the season. Paperwork needs to be finalised before the deadline. Just 54 minutes to go.

22:03: And of course the Clint Dempsey saga has ended. The American has signed for Spurs for £6m. He has signed a three-year deal at White Hart Lane. Could Moutinho be joining him? The North London side are working hard to bring him in.

22:01: Javi Garcia is set to sign for Manchester City, Michael Essien to move to Real Madrid and Yossi Benayoun could return to West Ham - 59 minutes to go...

22:00: And just one hour to go until the transfer window slams shut.

21:57: Reports also suggesting that Clint Dempsey has agreed personal terms over a switch to Spurs.

21:56Lyon have confirmed the sale of Lloris on their official website. Fee is €10m, potentially rising to €15m depending on bonuses over the next four years.

21:45: Kaka also has an offer to join Diarra at Anzhi, but the Brazilian doesn't want to move to the Russian Premier League.

21:41: Stephane M'Bia has just arrived at Loftus Road to complete his move to QPR from Marseille, while West Brom has signed Dynamo Kiev's Goran Popov on a season-long loan.

21:40: Everton have made their second signing of the day bringing in 17-year-old winger Matthew Kennedy from Kilmarnock. The youngster signs a three-year deal with the Toffees.

21:39: This is what we were waiting for. 80 minutes until the transfer window slams shut. It's all begin to move very quickly now.

21:37: Manchester City have confirmed the signing of Matija Nastasic from Fiorentina. Stefan Savic expected to move the other way on loan.

21:34: Confirmed that Dempsey is at the Spurs lodge. Set to undergo a medical with the North London side. All quiet now on the Moutinho front. Looks to be dead in the water.

21:30: Ashley Westwood has signed a four-year deal at Aston Villa and Southampton have signed Cody Cropper on a two-year deal.

21:27: Reports suggest Clint Dempsey is at the Spurs lodge.

21:26: Remember when Alex Woo expressed his delight at Yossi Benayoun not returning to Liverpool? Well he could be West Ham United bound. Chelsea working hard to come to a compromise that will see the Israeli head back to Upton Park. QPR also want him, but player only interest in a move back to West Ham. Wages are the issue, it seems.

21:24: A twist in the Essien saga. With Diarra heading to Anzhi, the midfielder looks set to reunite with Jose Mourinho at Real Madrid.

21:16: Spurs have confirmed the signing of Lloris. Excuse me for one minute.....YES!

21:11: Nottingham Forest majority shareholder Fawaz Al-Hasawi has claimed that Southampton striker Billy Sharp will spend the season on loan at the City Ground.

21:00: Exactly two hours to go until the close of the transfer window. Where is Michael Owen headed? Will anyone take him?! A sympathy buyer must be available, right?

20:45: Javi Garcia is set to undergo a medical at Manchester City ahead of his move from Benfica.

20:36: Reports emanating from Liverpool suggest there will be no incoming signings tonight. Looks like Clint Dempsey won't be getting his move to Anfield.

20:24: It's all very quiet...a little TOO quiet if you ask me. Still waiting for some news that will see Jim White spontaneously combust...

20:18: Chelsea and Spurs have both failed in a move to sign Marseille striker Loic Remy.

20:15: Liverpool fans will be disappointed by this - Joe Cole is expected to remain at Anfield until January. The Reds have received enquiries, but not concrete offer has been made for the injury prone midfielder. However, a lot can change between now and 11pm. Meanwhile, Liverpool are still hoping to secure a deal for Clint Dempsey. Fulham have rejected a bid for the midfielder, but the Merseysiders will be confident in landing him before the transfer window slams shut.

20:12: Christian Benteke believed to be close to signing for Aston Villa after undergoing a medical with the Villains.

20:09: Moutinho has been on, then off and now maybe back on again. Spurs looking to push through with the deal, but it's unsure as to whether a deal will be completed. Another broken down fax machine at White Hart Lane again tonight? Better news for Lloris, he has completed his medical and looks as though it will go through. Now if they could just sign Fernando Llorente...

19:58: There is a little over three hours to go until the close of the transfer window. Will Spurs sign Lloris and Moutinho? Where will Essien end up? What about Dempsey? A lot can happen over the next 182 minutes.

19:43: Anyone remember Lassana Diarra? The former Chelsea, Arsenal and Portsmouth midfielder, previously linked with a move to Spurs, has secured a switch to big spending Russian outfit Anzhi Makhachkala.

19:38: Chelsea manager Roberto Di Matteo confirmed that Michael Essien has been left out of the squad due to a possible loan move away from the club. However, Arsenal aren't believed to be the club in the hunt for the combative midfielder.

19:31: Malaga have confirmed the loan signing of Manchester City striker Roque Santa Cruz. The Paraguayan has been made surplus to requirements at the Etihad Stadium and had been expected to leave the Premier League champions this summer.

19:09: We all thought it was dead in the water, but reports now suggest that Spurs' move for Moutinho could be back on. The North London side and FC Porto had agreed a £22m fee for the midfielder, but a deal looked to have fallen through after the club and player had failed to agree personal terms. However, with less than four hours to go until the deadline, Spurs are looking to resurrect the deal.

19:02: Everton are rumoured to be in talks with Birmingham City over a potential move for Birmingham City goalkeeper Jack Butland. The young England international shone for Team GB during this summer's Olympic Games and has been linked with a move to Spurs. He would become David Moyes' fifth summer signing should he move to Goodison Park and the Toffees second deadline day acquisition following the arrival of Bryan Oviedo should a deal go through.

18:37: QPR news; Jay Bothroyd has secured a loan move to Sheffield Wednesday, while the R's are still waiting to confirm the move for Stephane M'Bia. The Cameroon international is currently  undergoing a medical with the club.

18:18: Michael Essien hasn't travelled with the Chelsea squad from the team hotel ahead of tonight's UEFA Super Cup encounter with Atletico Madrid. The Ghanaian has been linked with a possible loan switch to Arsenal.

18:11: Possible good news for Spurs fans. Hugo Lloris recently left the training ground and is reported to be undergoing a medical ahead of his move to the club. Fee of around £12m has been mooted. Please let this happen... *sinks to knees and prays*

18:08: Maurice Edu has confirmed he has signed for Stoke City from Rangers.

18:02: The transfer window in Italy has now slammed shut, just in time to see Alberto Gilardino to move to Bologna from Genoa.

18:00: News emanating from Chelsea; Gael Kakuta has moved to Vitesse Arnham on loan. The Frenchman signed for the Blues back in 2007 under controversial circumstances from Lens and has enjoyed loan spells with Fulham, Bolton and Dijon in recent seasons.

17:57: It's all gone very, very quiet on the transfer front. The calm before the storm? Five hours of madness set to ensue? I certainly wouldn't bet against it...

17:51: Everton have secured the signing of Bryan Oviedo from FC Copenhagen and becomes David Moyes' fourth summer signing. The Toffees had agreed a fee for the Costa Rica international earlier today, but were just waiting for the defender to be granted a work permit. That has all been confirmed and Oviedo is now an Everton player.

17:40: It's all coming thick and fast now. Reports suggest that Liverpool and Spurs have lodged bids for Fulham's Clint Dempsey. The USA international is expected to leave Craven Cottage having gone on strike to secure his move away from the Cottagers. Have Spurs admitted defeat in the race to sign Moutinho? Will Liverpool bring him in as a Charlie Adam replacement?

17:38: Does anybody remember Luca Toni? The burly front-man has returned to Fiorentina. The 35-year-old enjoyed a prolific two year spell with La Viola between 2005 and 2007.

17:36: Good news for Aston Villa fans; Genk's Christian Benteke is believed to be on his way to Villa Park ahead of a potential move to the Midlands side.

17:30: FC Porto confirm that Joao Moutinho will be part of the 19-man squad to play Olhanense tomorrow. Spurs had agreed a £22m fee for the Portuguese midfielder, but it currently hangs in the balance as the player and club can't agree personal terms. I miss Rafael van der Vaart already...

17:25: QPR won't be pursuing their interest in Real Madrid's Ricardo Carvalho, with the R's set to bring in Stephane M'Bia from Marseille, who is currently undergoing a medical with Mark Hughes' side.

17:21: Nicklas Bendtner is a Juventus player. The Denmark international moves to the Serie A champions on loan for the season, much to the delight of Arsenal fans. Southampton fans will also be happy to hear that a deal to sign Gaston Ramirez has been finalised. The Uruguay international had been subject to interest from Liverpool, Spurs and Inter Milan, but has now secured his switch to the south coast club for a club record £12m.

17:14: Swansea City fans will be happy; the South Wales side have confirmed the signing of Valencia winger Pablo Hernandez for a club record fee of £5.55m.

17:07: Could Spurs be about to bring in a big name striker before the close of the window? The North London side are currently favourites to sign Fernando Llorente from Athletic Bilbao. The number 9 shirt is vacant at White Hart Lane...

17:03: Manchester City are believed to have agreed a £16m fee for Benfica's Javi Garcia. The Premier League champions have already secured the signings of Maicon, Scott Sinclair and, ahem, Richard Wright. Roberto Mancini had hoped to make five acquisitions before the window slams shut at 11pm.

16:56: Ben McAleer here and I'll be taking over from Alex Woo. First from me; Tony Parks recently claimed that any deal to take Hugo Lloris to Spurs is far from completion. This deal could go to the wire. But will he be joined by Joao Moutinho? Reports suggest the deal is hanging in the balance over personal terms. As revealed earlier today, a fee of around £23m has been agreed for the Portugal star. It's set to be a tense finish this evening, with a little over six hours to run until the transfer window slams shut.

16:48: Transfer deadline day is too much for just one man to handle, so I'm signing off and going for a pint, but I leave you in the more than capable hands of Ben McAleer, who will be with you until the 11pm deadline. He's also a Spurs fan, so will either be squealing with delight or crying in to his cornflakes. Arrivaderci.

16:35: It appears that the possibility of Benyoun returning to Anfield will not come to fruition. Phew! *wipes sweat from brow*

16:20: Mumblings here in Liverpool that the Reds are close to signing a Chelsea player on loan, except the player in question is not Daniel Sturridge, but Yossi Benayoun, who moved from Liverpool to Chelsea two years ago.

16:14: It seems as if clubs are purposely delaying the completion of transfers to make my job more difficult. As soon as I leave there will be a plethora of deals coming through, I guarantee it. It could, of course, just be that there's a lot of work going in to completing a transfer in a day, but that seems far too convenient, doesn't it?

15:56: And the most ridiculous transfer of the season award goes to....Richard Wright, who has joined Manchester City on a one-year deal.

15:29: Most people were searching for Dimitar Berbatov on the side of a milk bottle, but he was actually putting the finishing touches to his transfer to Fulham.  The Bulgarian signs a two-year deal at Craven Cottage. Fabio Zucchelli wrote about his departure from Man Utd here:

15:19: Aston Villa, undeterred by Clint Dempsey's rejection, have agreed a fee of £10.6m for Genk striker Christian Benteke.

15:08: Fulham are spending the Dembele money well; they have had a £7m bid accepted for Lyon winger Michel Bastos, who has started the Ligue 1 season extremely well.

14:55: Paul Merson has definitely been on the sauce on Sky Sports News. That was just noise, Merse. It's transfer deadline day and he's the best you can roll out? Shame on you, Sky. Shame. On. You.

14:45: Reports in Portugal suggest that Man City have agreed a fee with Benfica for Javi Garcia in excess of £20m. Here's our man Zac Smale on why City should sign him:

14:33: In what has been arguably the longest transfer saga of the summer, Gaston Ramirez appears to have finally secured a move away from Italy. Southampton have agreed a deal with Bologna to sign the Uruguayan midfielder for around £12m. A move for the Fray Bentos born youngster looked to be little more than a pie-in-the-sky at one point. I wrote this on him a while back:

14:29: This feels like the calm before the storm. Anyway, football news: Inter Milan are claiming that Maicon has completed his move to Manchester City for a reported fee of £4m. Was just two seasons ago Inter rejected a £20m+ bid from Real Madrid for the Brazilian right-back.

13:55: Check our twitter @SabotageTimes  for plenty of quality content from our writers on players who are on the move today.  Some cracking pieces on Pablo Hernandez, Hugo Lloris, Matija Nastasic et al.

13:41: Arsenal forward Park Chu-Young has joined Celta Vigo on loan. Giovanni Dos Santos has left Spurs to sign for Mallorca. Malaga are in talks to sign Roque Santa Cruz from Manchester City. Premier League rejects to La Liga galore.

13:37: Sky Sports News just showed a cringeworthy montage of Jim White arriving at Sky Studios. Seriously. He's become a parody of himself, hasn't he? I just threw up in my mouth a little bit.

13:32: Reports that Harry Redknapp is circling around the same McDonald's drive-through because he misses speaking to people out of his Range Rover window are as of yet confirmed.

13:30: We all remember the Babelcopter, don't we? Well it seems Ryan Babel may be on the move again, but the Dutch forward is a free agent after being released by Hoffenheim yesterday, so is free to negotiate a deal with any club after the window closes. Fiorentina have been strongly linked with him all summer, but could be an appealing option to a whole host of Premiership clubs.

13:24: Maybe I spoke to soon. It appears Hugo Lloris is set to have his medical at Spurs this afternoon ahead of a €12m move. If that deal goes through at that price it's a phenomenal piece of business for a one of the most consistent goalkeepers in Europe, who will only get better. Great piece on him here:

13:15: Right, things are finally picking up. Stephane M'Bia's loan move to QPR seems likely to go through, with the Cameroonian defender on his way to London for a medical. Doubt you'll see a better signing all day.

12:48: Charlie Adam has completed his move from Liverpool to Stoke for £4m. Woo-hoo!!!! Liverpool fans will be high-fiving everywhere.

12:27: Initial reports suggesting that Spurs have agreed a club record fee of around £23m with Porto for Joao Moutinho. Blimey!

12:18: Scott Sinclair has completed his move from Swansea to Manchester City for a fee of around £6m. The Swans are close to signing Pablo Hernandez from Valencia as a replacement for a similar fee.

12:12: Things seem to be quiet this lunchtime. Too quiet.... I'm taking full advantage and putting the kettle on. Who wants a brew?

12:09: Couple of other titbits for you: David Moyes is in London at a hearing to try and secure a work permit for Costa Rican defender Bryan Oviedo, after Everton agreed a fee with his club FC Copenhagen; Nicklas Bendtner is having a medical in Turin ahead of a loan move to Juventus; and Joey Barton is training in Marseille so it appears his move to France is all but done.

11:55: Speaking of Spurs, it appears Rafael Van Der Vaart is on the verge of returning to his former club Hamburg; his agent confirmed he's currently on his way to Germany for a medical. Also talk of Tottenham signing French goalkeeper Hugo Lloris from Lyon, and they've long been linked with Marseille forward Loic Remy, but may be put off by his €20m price tag. The same applies to Porto midfielder Joao Moutinho, who Andre Villas-Boas signed for Porto from Sporting Lisbon back in 2010.

11:49:  Whilst Michael Owen tries to stay relevant amidst rumours of him joining Stoke on a free transfer, another more interesting rumour is that of Spurs attempting to beat Fulham to the signing of Dimitar Berbatov. Thanks to fellow Sabotage Times writer and Spurs fan Ben McAleer for that one.

11:42: Not a Premiership deal, but just seen that Blackburn signed Jordan Rhodes from Huddersfield for £8m. EIGHT MILLION POUNDS! He was prolific in League One, but has only played a couple of games in the Championship and has commanded a fee not far off what Newcastle paid for Papiss Cisse in January. No wonder clubs are going bust nowadays. Ridiculous.

11:40: Fulham are expected to announce the signing of Dimitar Berbatov today after the Bulgarian striker completed a medical yesterday, but one transfer they have completed is that of Kieran Richardson, who joins from Sunderland for an undisclosed fee on a three-year deal. The Black Cats are close to signing Tottenham's Danny Rose on loan as a replacement.

11:37: One of the most surprising transfers of the summer has seen Juventus legend Alessandro Del Piero join Sydney FC in the Australian A-League. Celtic had been linked with a move for him earlier in the week.

11:34: Heard any hilarious rumours? Spotted any players near your club's training ground? Or do you just want to send me abuse? Get in touch on twitter @SabotageTimes and we'll post the best tweets on here.

11:32: As for Manchester City, the defending Premiership champions look like they'll be the busiest club today. They're attempting to complete deals for ex-Arsenal and Everton goalkeeper Richard Wright, Swansea winger Scott Sinclair, Fiorentina defender Matija Nastasic, Inter Milan right-back Maicon, and Benfica midfielder Javi Garcia. Nigel De Jong has left City to join AC Milan on a deal worth €3.5m + bonuses. City were never going to have a quiet summer, were they?

11:25: As I'm a Liverpool fan I'll start with them. After Andy Carroll completed a season-long loan move to West Ham late last night, the Reds are in the market for a forward. They've approached Chelsea over a possible transfer for Daniel Sturridge, and are also interested in signing Theo Walcott, although it looks like he'll be staying at Arsenal. Clint Dempsey has rejected a move to Aston Villa as he has his heart set on a move to Anfield, but there has been no approach as of yet from Brendan Rodgers after a part-ex deal for first Charlie Adam and then Jordan Henderson were both turned down by the Cottagers yesterday. Speaking of Charlie Adam, the Scot is set to join Stoke after they agreed a fee with Liverpool, and he is currently having a medical in Staffordshire. Jay Spearing has signed for Bolton on a season-long loan, too.

11:05: Morning folks - welcome to the Sabotage Times Transfer Deadline Day Live Blog. I’m Alex Woo, and I’ll be bringing you all the latest transfer news as clubs work frantically against the clock to sign players before the 11pm deadline tonight. Only 12 hours of this summer’s transfer window remain, and with every club in the league seemingly attempting to bring in at least one new signing, there should be plenty of news to bring you.
