The Daily Mail have reported that Leeds are set to make a surprise summer bid for the Stoke midfielder Charlie Adam.
With Leeds’ transfer embargo set to be lifted this summer the paper claims that manager Neil Redfearn will hand an ambitious shopping list to Massimo Cellino, which also includes QPR winger Matt Phillips and Burnley defender Jason Shackell.
Adam has featured in 26 of Stoke’s 35 games this season, with 14 coming from off the bench. If Leeds can persuade Stoke to part with the player and the Scotland international is willing to drop down a division, then it would be regarded as a major coup.
Still only 29, Adam is the type of experienced midfield playmaker who could bring the best out of Leeds’ outstanding batch of youngsters. Not only would he be a class above most Championship midfielders, but he’s also got the sort of nasty side to his game that would give the side a competitive edge.
Here's his incredible recent goal against Chelsea from inside his own half.
