Arsenal are determined to beat Manchester United to the signing of Sevilla's Polish midfielder Grzegorz Krychowiak, according to The Times (subscription required).

Krychowiak is regarded as one of the best defensive midfielders in La Liga. The 25-year-old was also part of Sevilla's Europa League winning squad and scored in the final. He's also been capped 24 times for the Polish national side.

Arsenal have reportedly switched their attention to Krychowiak after deciding Morgan Schneiderlin would wind up being too expensive for what he's worth if a bidding war involving the likes of Spurs and Man Utd began. Sevilla's Pole has a £21m release clause and Arsenal are seriously considering activating it.

Krychowiak would be the second Polish defensive midfielder to join Arsenal this year after the Gunners secured the services of youngster Krystian Bielik from Legia Warsaw in January.
