According to reports in the Standard, West Ham's new boss Slaven Bilic is ready to bid £12m for Manchester United's Javier Hernandez, but will have to bat off competition from Spurs who also want the Mexican striker.

West Ham take on Arsenal in their opening game of the season at the weekend with only one fit striker after Enner Valencia injured his ankle, sidelining him for up to three months.

West Ham have already seen one £8.5m bid rejected for Hernandez, but with the matter pressing on Billic ahead of the weekend, the Croatian has upped the ante.

Spurs are also interested in Hernandez, according to the Daily Star, which certainly throws a spanner into the works.
