Italy's top source for football news La Gazzetta dello Sport have claimed that Chelsea made a huge bid for the Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba during the transfer window.
They claim that Chelsea made a bid of €85m plus one player. The identity of the Chelsea player is not revealed, but with Juventus having been linked with a number of stars from Stamford Bridge this summer it can be narrowed down.
Most likely it would have been Juan Cuadrado, a player that Chelsea were actively trying to shift and who ended up joining Juve on loan. Oscar is another candidate, with the Turin outfit being heavily linked with the Brazilian for some time, while Ramires and Willian were also rumoured to be attracting glances from the Italian champions.
The article goes on to say that Pogba turned down the chance to move because he doesn't consider Chelsea to be a better team or bigger club than Juventus. That could spell bad news for Jose Mourinho and Chelsea if they attempt to sign the player in the future.
