Why Chelsea Should Beat Man United To German Maestro
It feels like Toni Kroos has been close to joining every big club in Europe at this point, and now Chelsea are making a move for the Bayern midfielder, according to the Metro.
Kroos has one year left on his deal with the Bundesliga champions and he's yet to come to terms on an extension. Chelsea are reportedly offering him a five-year deal worth £6.5 million a year. Kroos is after a deal that recognises his status as one of the best playmakers in Europe, and Chelsea's huge offer definitely does that. Manchester United, Real Madrid, and Barcelona have all chased the German international at various points, but it seems that Chelsea are currently favourites to sign him.
He doesn't seem like a typical Mourinho player, but it's not hard to see why the 24-year-old is so widely admired - he can play as a number ten or in a deep-lying role, he's got a lethal long shot, and he's ridiculously good at passing. Chelsea have already signed Cesc Fabregas, and if they can get Toni Kroos as well, it's hard to imagine teams being able to get the ball off the pair of them.
