Why Liverpool & Spurs Are Battling For Lazio's £10mil Wonderkid
Liverpool have shown their class this term but, as showcased in less than subtle style against Jose's brick wall last week, they're not quite the finished article just yet.
While Gerrard seems to have slipped seamlessly into that regista role, a few of those midfield options around him could do with a tweak. Hendo has come on leaps and bounds this term - especially since the 'gaitgate' furore with Fergie - but Joe Allen has struggled a little to fit into a system which often has such reliance of physical attributes. Lucas' legs are shot, too, so he's pretty much a dead DM walking.
Enter Lazio's prize talent Ogenyi Onazi - a powerful, box-to-box style battler with a deceptive amount of quality on the ball. We'e talking 'get it, give it' quality not Gerrard's 'raking seventy-yard-ball' quality but quality nonetheless. He's quality, is what we're trying to say.
Spurs too, according to the Daily Star, are also in the running for the twenty-two year old, with their midfield properly effed as they bought two of the same player (both of whom very similar to two they already) had and are in dire need of some shaping up and some shipping out.
