Frank Sinatra’s legendary clique defined life in the fast lane throughout the late fifties and early sixties, dominating American culture and epitomising a life of cocktails, love affairs and Hollywood glamour. And yet somehow there has never been a definitive photographic volume on The Rat Pack.
Well there is now. A 450 page retrospective that captures the Rat Pack in their heyday, featuring anumber of previously unseen images, with accompanying text by author and Rat Pack expert Shawn Levy.
"I've been looking at pictures of Sinatra and the Rat Pack my whole life, and spent scores of hours doing photo research for my book on them, and I was floored by the material that has been gathered for this book – truly never-before-seen images with real revelation about the deeds and events and personalities that made up this amazing time”, says Levy.
TheRat Packis the definitive book on Frank, Dean, Sammy and co. tearing up Hollywood and Las Vegas with an extended cast including Marilyn Monroe and JFK. Fifty years on from the year many refer to as the Year of the Rat Pack, 1960, and their influence endures. Shooting Oceans 11 by day, performing at the Sands by night and sweating out the sour mash in the sauna in between, The Rat Pack includes behind the scenes footage at the JFK Presidential inauguration and house parties with Ava Gardener and Marilyn Monroe.
