The sweatshirt is a garment that many have produced, but only few have mastered. You will have no doubt heard the usual - that it is a staple item for every mans wardrobe, and although I agree with this, I am not here to tell you what to wear. I will however express my opinion on the topic, as I feel it is a classic bit of kit that goes with just about anything. Perfect for these lighter spring nights that we are expecting, the sweatshirt is a great replacement for a jacket or ‘hoody’ when the sun decides to shine.
If you are looking to buy a decent sweatshirt, you will be spoilt for choice. With so many great brands providing sweats in an array of colours in their latest spring summer collections, you’ll have plenty to choose from. After an initial spell of indecision, I went with Albam’s Athletic Crew in navy. I played it safe, I was almost tempted by a lovely saffron yellow number I spotted in their Islington store, but I went with my heart and picked the navy version in the knowledge that I would get much more wear out of it. The sweat features a crew neck, elbow patches, ribbed side panels, cuffs and hem with flat locked seams. All finished off with a garment wash to give it an extra softness and lived in feel.
Albam’s philosophy is to produce modern crafted clothing, and it has served them well. Their clothes are built to last, and when you combine this with an honest price point and great design aesthetic, you have yourself a winner.
