Folk founder and all round top design bod Cathal McAteer has been trying his hand at stuff to make your home nice, creating a selection of crafted lamps which are available to buy from the Folk shop.
Initially created for the brand’s new space in Soho (Great Windmill St), the Folk lighting system uses natural materials with lovely sounding names like "Osmo-oiled oak" and "hand-carved Rajasthani marble" with brass (not as great sounding but we'd be lost without it) to create spectacularly sculptural, one-off pieces.
The lamps come with a unique, hand-finished marble base, a clamp made from solid cast brass, and a luxurious fabric cable made by Urban Cottage Industries in West Yorkshire. I don't mean to sound like I'm on a QVC hype, but they really are gorgeous.
In other Folk news, Cathal will be curating a new concept store in Glasgow from September, which will include Folk, YMC, Our Legacy and Stone Island.
