Spa Green Estate, opposite Sadlers Wells on the edge of Clerkenwell, is an often overlooked gem in the ongoing conversation about London's post-war design history. Built by architect Berthold Lubetkin in a radical new style in the middle of the 20th century, Spa Green is one of the few buildings in the area with a Grade II* listed status, a classification reserved for structures of important historical significance.

The architectural style of 'streets in the sky' would become synonymous with a new approach to social housing in Britain, and while subsequent years would bring mixed results both aesthetically and socially, those early structures still stand as accomplished monuments to a hopeful time in our history.

Head over to the Scotts blog for more info on the collection and some facts about the brand, including the story behind the famous Penguin logo.
