With first class resorts like the exclusive Sand Lane Resort, Barbados does old school Caribbean glamour like nowhere else. A celebrity magnet for the likes of Tiger Woods and Mick Jagger, this is the ideal location for those with A-list aspirations - without necessarily the budget. The new Coral Reef Club, set among 12 acres of beautifully landscaped gardens is among the finest family run establishments in the Caribbean.

Follow the jet-set and combine Ipanema beach life with after-sun partying in Rio. Taking an Amazon cruise between these two spectacular beach locations allows for stops along the world’s largest river to encounter friendly and hospitable local communities, as well as some of the most exotic plantlife and animals on earth. Stay at the newly completed Villas de Trancoso and  indulge in some classical romance on one of Brazil’s most beautiful beaches.

Life affirming coastal beauty, known locally as the Turqoise Coast, mixed with spectacular archaeological sites such as the ancient city of Ephesus, make Turkey’s East coast among the most romantic destinations you’ll ever find. With some surprisingly chic hotels for the ultimate in honeymoon pampering we particularly recommend The Aegean Gate Hotelin Bodrum. Also works well with an Istanbul stopover.

But for true romance, re-enact Shakespeare's balcony scene with your newly betrothed in Verona, (although leave out the tragic, double death ending obviously!)

There’s such a romance about India, a honeymoon here is always magical. Try the desert tented camp of The Serai, high in Rajasthan, in the Great Thar Desert or alternatively the Sher Baghon the edge of the Ranthambhore which provides a dream setting to spot tigers.

The Maldives

Tom Cruise and Katy Holmes decided to hire a yacht to tour these idyllic islands in the Indian Ocean for their honeymoon. And who could blame them? This archipelago of almost 1000 coral islands, offering some of the world’s best diving, the Maldives is among the greatest places in the world to get lost away from the madding crowds.

From the iconic cities of Rome, Florence, Siena and Venice to the vineyards of Chianti Classico in Tuscany or the Truli houses of Puglia, Italy is always classic honeymoon territory. But for true romance, re-enact Shakespeare's balcony scene with your newly betrothed in Verona, (although leave out the tragic, double death ending obviously!)

South of France

A great ‘minimoon’ destination for time-poor honeymooners, the Cote d’Azur offers atmospheric hideaways like the fairytale Chateau de la Chevre d’Or . Clinging to a cliff over the Mediterranean Sea, equidistant from Nice and Monaco, this luxury resort is situated in Eze, a tiny village established about 500 BC, which even today retains its medieval feel. The landscape is equal parts rocky cliffs, blue sea and lush green fauna--and the hotel's infinity pool, winding gardens and nearby Astrorama (observatory) capitalize on their location. Extravagantly furnished rooms and three separate restaurants add to the possibilities for mutual spoiling.
