Common Projects SS15

by Eric Brain
12 March 2015

You cannot ignore the sheer beauty of these shoes.

Purveyors of the very finest Italian leather sneakers, Common Projects have released the line up for their Spring/Summer 2015 collection. True to CP style, a collection of sleek and minimalistic designs are available in tonal greys, as well as deep blues colourways featuring on the original Achilles Low and vibrant reds on the basketball-esque B-Ball High Suede’s.

New to Common Projects is the use of perforated leather, used extensively across the new range. From Nappa leather slip-ons to the original CP silhouette, the style is a welcomed look and will hopefully be incorporated further on the likes of their more formal Chelsea boots and Derby’s, as well as the new B-Ball High’s mentioned before.

Common Projects have brought back the use of premium canvas for 2015 too, in the form of their signature silhouette. The use of canvas makes these a sure hit for the deep-pocketed style-savvies this summer, being lighter than the fine nappa leather Achilles. CP have maintained their quality throughout the sneaker, featuring Italian Nappa leather lined insides and CP’s unique gold stamped style codes.

This season’s originals are definitely must-haves in their new revised colourways, however it’s the Achilles Retros that have been kicking up a storm in the sneaker world. CP has never shied away from giving a nod to adidas Originals’ Stan Smiths, the original leather tennis shoes. With CP’s revised Retros rolling out the styling studios only months after Adidas has revived the iconic Stan Smith’s, controversy has been caused over the originality of white-leather sneakers. Despite this, you cannot ignore the sheer beauty of these shoes, nor Common Projects hard work in making a functional yet classically designed, dare I say it, that looks better than the Stan Smith’s? If anything, it’s a smart move by Common Projects, going by the sales figures of Adidas’ Stan Smith’s in the traditional white-green colourway.
