Blackburn Rovers: The Sacking Of Michael Appleton Is An Absolute Joke

With the ridiculous sacking of Michael Appleton fresh in their minds, it's time the FA looked into whether Venky's are 'fit and proper' owners of the club I love...

Blackburn Rovers: The Sacking Of Michael Appleton Is An Absolute Joke

There are no more words. There are no more expletives. But sadly, desperately and amazingly, there is probably more pain for us long suffering supporters of Blackburn Rovers.

Sacking Michael Appleton, who seemed a decent enough bloke trying to manage and motivate a squad he didn’t assemble, is an act of errant vandalism and willful destruction.

None of it makes sense. There is no possibility of getting into the play offs – the disruption and poor decision making has seen to that – but there is a looming danger of relegation.

Just like a poor football side that can’t string more than two passes together, so the Venky’s can’t seem to make more than two or three decent decisions on the run.

After a staggering and persistent loyalty to Steve Kean, they’ve now become sack happy.

I must admit I winced a little when Appleton publicly dissed Shebby Singh, claiming the ‘global adviser’ had nothing to do with him and was ‘global advising somewhere else’. That marked his card. But he was still allowed to take players on loan and to strip Danny Murphy of the captaincy.

Why I Refuse To Give Blackburn Rovers A Penny While Venky’s Are In Charge

Now it seems that there are two Blackburn Rovers. One being run in Blackburn by two former Preston North End directors – Paul Agnew and Derek Shaw – who fired Henning Berg and hired Michael Appleton. And one run by the clueless buffoons from India with their proxy Shebby Singh who sacked Appleton. If this is Shebby finally getting is way, then frankly Shaw and Agnew will surely soon follow.

Which manager in their right mind would want the job under any circumstances? It’s just not going to happen.

What are they doing to persuade a fan contemplating a season ticket renewal? And they’re going to need income to foot the bill for compensation this season and for early termination of player contracts, not to mention a burgeoning wage bill for various waifs and strays who’ve come to the club with their injuries and poor form.

But where in all of this is the FA? By what measure and by what right do the Venky’s have the right to be called ‘fit and proper’?The only hope is that these idiots in India have actually had enough. That they’ve got a buyer lined up who has a management team in mind. You have to hope.

If you like it, Pass it on
